Very Last Minute Halloween Costumes

So it’s Halloween night and the kids are in their costumes all ready to go trick or treating and they look at you and say, “Mommy, where’s your costume?”  Crap! They want me in a costume too! You’re about to head out the door and you need a costume!

Here are some costumes that you can literally pull out of your closet. No making anything or intricate make up. My lovely friend Jessicah helped me out with this. Thanks babe, I owe ya one.

Hogwarts student.

Because I’m a dork, I have the tie and the scarf. But you really could just use a solid tie. We just used a black or grey skirt, a black or grey cardigan and a white shirt. You could do tights or knee socks and black shoes. Grab a stick from the backyard for a wand and done. We actually forgot the wand for the picture, what were we thinking?!?!

50’s Housewife

Even easier. A full skirt a tight sweater or blouse, an apron, some pearls and heels. Done and done. Extra points for a martini and cigarette. Lol.

Holly Golightly-Breakfast at Tiffanys

This one is just a black dress, black heels, some black gloves, big sunglasses and pearls. Put you hair in a bun with a tiara or sparkly headband or even a rhinestone broach. Extra points for take out coffee cup and a Tiffany bag or box.

Rosie the Reviter

This one is super easy and comfortable! Just a denim shirt and jeans or even better, coveralls, a red bandana around your head and some black boots. Done. “We Can Do It”.

Cowgirl

I feel like this is the easiest. Jeans, a plaid shirt, some cowboy boots, a banana, cowboy hat and some cute braids. Done.

Gypsy

I realize not everyone is going to have a coin hip scarf in their closet, I used to be a belly dancer. A square scarf or shawl will do the trick. With a long skirt, flowy top, a head scarf and a tonne of jewelry. Done. I suggest wearing boots, I thought it looked good with bare feet. But I wasn’t going anywhere.

I hope this gives you some ideas for a no fuss, out of your closet Halloween costume. Hope you all have a great Halloween weekend.🎃

And I’m off.

Celebrity Look,Thrift Shop Challenge !

Since I’ve been on vacation, and with many more thrift shops at my disposal, I decided to take on a challenge. Recreate celebrity fall looks with thrift shop finds.

I went on Pinterest and found some looks I liked, not necessarily celebs that I like, or even heard of. But looks that I would actually wear. Then I set off looking for items to recreate the look.

Total cost of this outfit is $33.00. I found Banana Republic jacket at Previously Loved for $20. That’s what started the whole thing. These jeggings are Calvin Kline and were $6.99!

This outfit is totally me. I live in a black turtleneck in the winter. This outfit was $18.00 including the sunglasses!

I couldn’t find light jeans that fit that I could rip holes in, so I went with the $7.99 ones from the previous look. The jacket is Michael Kors and I found it at Salvation Army for $9.99!!! This outfit was $28.00.

The pants aren’t exactly what I wanted for this look but I went with it anyway. This outfit was $31.00 including the cuff bracelet and the shoes.

I really should have put on my spanks for these pictures. Oh well, I worry about the mummy tummy after vacation.

I loved doing this! I might do it again for winter or vacation looks! Let me know if you love the thrift hunt and if you have any good finds lately.

And I’m off!

Summer Outfits for the Curvy Girl.

I’m a size 14-16 at the moment. After having a baby at the end of January, my life hasn’t stopped. And not just busy with baby, I also have a 4 year old, I teach dance classes (off for summer now! Thank god!), I own a dance studio and I’ve been working on choreography for three shows. Ya think that would cause a few pounds to drop off wouldn’t you? Not so much. The eating a double cheeseburger at 10:30 at night after rehearsal doesn’t help either.

I’m usually a size 12 anyway, so I’m generally a curvy girl. So I thought I’d share some easy summer outfit ideas for us busy girls with curves.

Casual BBQ or running errands.

Here’s a few of behind the camera cuteness. As you can tell I ended up with a bit of a theme with the blues and whites but I guess that’s what I’m into theses days. It doesn’t show the spit up stains, lol. Winners has opened here and it has taken the place of Target as my happy place. Although the minute I get to Tampa it the first place I go. Also, you may have noticed I have a thing for bags. My theory is “A handbag will always fit. You’re never too fat for a purse.” I’d rather spend my money on something that will always fit, no matter what. 😉

Nothing like being able to run around all morning in your underwear and no one looks twice.

My Florida Haul!

I’ve been back from our trip for about three weeks now, but it’s never too late to share a haul, right?

With the exchange rate the way it is at the moment, shitty, I really didn’t do much shopping for me. I did however buy things for the baby and Mr.Bubbers. I’ll do a separate post on that haul. This one is just the things I bought for myself. I did get to my favourite place,Target about 5 times. Also, I got a few things at Nordstroms rack.

What I got at Le Target:

*please excuse how wrinkly everything is. Eventhough they’ve been unpacked for a few weeks the wrinkles seem to have stayed.

1.Love this t-shirt with the little neon orange elephants!

2.I wore this outfit so much while I was in Florida. The shorts and top are Merona and really light and flowy.

3.I’m still obsessed with this colour this spring.

4.I certainly didn’t need another chambray shirt, I have about 5 of different shades of blue. But I loved the patch pockets on this one.

Ross just happened to be super close to my moms place. So I had to go there.

5. This coral colour top, is my other colour obsession for spring. I love it!

6. I always love navy no matter the time of year. I love the “longer in the back” type tops.

7. Again with this turquoise colour. My mom and I both bought the same one. It’s rounded on the bottom and looks super cute with shorts.

8. These Skechers memory foam loafers are the most comfortable things I’ve ever put on my feet. I was even wearing them around the house as slippers!

The non clothing stuff I bought was a couple bags from Nordstrom Rack and some packing goodies from the Container Store. My internal organized person loves the Container Store. I wish she’d come out more often…..

My treat to myself was this beautiful Rebecca Minkoff canvas tote. This is my summer bag for sure! This was a great find at Nordstrom Rack

The other bag I bought I actually bought the last time I was in Florida.  I left it there to use when I’m there. But I used it so much I decided to bring it home.

It also came from Nordstrom Rack. It’s a Lasportsac. I used it as a beach/pool bag. It’s so light and it has three outside zip pockets perfect for sunscreens and sunglasses.

I wanted to get a few more Eagle Creek Pack-it system packing cubes. That’s what I got at the Container store.

I got one set of the spectre compression cubes, one set of the spectre pack-it cubes, and the spectre stuffer set mini. I also found a small expandable packing cube by Lewis and Clark at TJ Maxx.

Check out my video to hear a little more about what I got!

And I’m off!

Blogidays…day 17 Playing trains

Another pretty uneventful day. I really need to get the rest of Christmas sorted, if only I wasn’t so tired and miserable. Oh right, I’m 32 weeks pregnant. I see those women, the ones with two or three kids at home and pregnant with another and doing everything totally as normal and they are due Monday. What the frack is that?

I know I have been doing good up to now. Home with Mr Bubbers all day then going to work to teach dance plus chreographing and dancing in a musical. But I’m done. Totally tapped out, pardon the pun (get it tap…dance teacher…). All I can manage is trying my best at getting in the floor to play with Bubs, with no guarantee of getting back up.

We did manage a pretty epic train track set up today.

I also had a tech meeting about my next show, OZ, my version of The Wizard of Oz. Which just happens to be 10 days before baby comes. I have no idea how I’m going to manage that. I’m not dancing in that one though. I’m not that crazy.

Body Shop advent calendar for today:

 Wild Argan Oil shower gel.
And I’m off.

Blogidays….Day 2

Today started with a phone call from my doctors office telling me my results came back from my last blood work. Turns out my iron is low. I figured that considering I have as much energy as a dish cloth these days. I guess it’s steak for supper!

Bubs and I opened our advent calendars, yay! Here is what I got in my Body Shop calendar.

The Vitamin E moisture cream. I actually have three of these now. I better start using them up.

Mr. Bubbers has a wooden tree advent calendar I got at Target last year. (RIP Target). I fill it with whatever fits. This year it’s Thomas the train minis. They fit perfect.

Today he got Diesel!

We played mega blocs.

And I worked away at some decorating. I went to teach my class but had to leave early because S had a meeting. Oh dear, it seems like I can never get to my Wednesday tap class. They had lots to practice and my assistant was there so it worked out.

Here is a peek at my decorating progress today.

Now for a cup of tea and a piece of my mom fruit cake and cheese. Yum!

And I’m off!

October Popsugar Must Have Box!

I know I’m always the last to the Popsugar party, but I’m just happy to be here. Octobers box was kind of themed around breast cancer awareness month.

Why Not Me? By Mindy Kaling
I have her other book on audio and it’s awesome, someday I’ll have time to read this. Lol

Savvy Sleepers Luxury Satin Pillowcase.
I haven’t seen satin pillow cases since my grandmother had one. I’m not sure if this is something I’d love or hate. But I’ll try them and see.

Easy,Tiger Brown Paper Liquor Bag Set
These will be great for gifts for Christmas with a nice red bow.

Belgian Boys De Stroopwafel
These are caramel filled crunchy waffles. These are a definite rehearsal snack!

The Honest Company Sea Salt +Sugar Scrub
I just ran out of my homemade scrub so this is perfect timing. It’s lavender vanilla scented but I get mostly lavender from it.

Richer Poorer Hope Slipper Socks
These were designed for Popsugat Must Have Box for Breast Cancer Awearness month. They are longer than other slipper socks I have, so that’s cool.

It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product

I have alway hear a lot about this product and have always wanted to try it. I just always have so many hair leave in type products on the go, I could never justify buying this to try. Now, I’m looking forward to giving this a try.

There was also a $40 gift card for Danielle Stevens monogrammed jewelry. I never use those card but I might check out the website anyway and see what’s there.

That’s it for the October Popsugar Must Have Box. I just love this subscription. I wish there was something like this in Canada.
And I’m off!
